The Glass Recreation Center will be closed from Monday, Nov. 16 through Saturday, Nov. 21 for annual preventative floor maintenance. The center will reopen on Monday, Nov. 23 at 7 a.m.
The floor refinishing is part of the ongoing annual preventative maintenance for the recreation center. The Center’s wood flooring is covered by 10 layers of topcoat that must be refinished annually to prevent wear of the painted wood surface. This preventative maintenance is more cost effective than periodic repainting of the base floor.
“The Glass Recreation Center is a premier facility for the citizens of Tyler,” said Debbie Isham, special events/recreation manager. “The Parks and Recreation Department is committed to carrying out a preventative maintenance program that will extend the life of the facility and keep it attractive for the community.”
The Center, which was built in 2001, has an estimated 5,000 members who renew annually.
