Tyler Area MPO looks for resident feedback on Transportation Improvement Plan

Post Date:05/04/2022 10:00 AM

The Tyler Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is hosting an open house to engage with residents and update the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP). The TIP is a short-range budgeting document that provides details on how federal transportation funding dollars will be spent on planning, design and construction of highway and transit improvements over the next four fiscal years. The TIP is updated every two years.

The open house will be held on Tuesday, May 10 from 5 to 6 p.m. in the Tyler Development Center, Large Conference Room located at 423 W. Ferguson St.

The purpose of the Open House is to notify the public and obtain resident feedback on proposed highway and transit projects proposed for construction including

  • Widening of FM 2493 from Flint to the Cherokee County line
  • Widening FM 756 from Jeff Davis Drive to FM 346
  • Ramp Improvements at I-20 and U.S. Highway 69 and One-Way Frontage Roads from Harvey Road to U.S. Highway 69
  • Widening FM 2964 from Texas Highway 110 to FM 346
  • Widening FM 2493 from Loop 323 to FM 2813
  • Constructing interchange at FM 756 and FM 346

Comments received on the plan will be presented to the MPO’s Transportation Policy Committee when the TIP is considered for adoption on May 26.

Staff from the MPO will be on hand to answer questions and provide information about the TIP.

The Tyler Area MPO is responsible for transportation planning within the Tyler Metropolitan Area which includes Tyler, Hideaway, Lindale, New Chapel Hill, Noonday, Whitehouse and Bullard.

Information about the TIP is also accessible on the MPO website: www.tylerareampo.org. Questions and comments can be submitted through the Contact Us page under the About section of the MPO’s website or by emailing the MPO at MPO@TylerTexas.com

This notice of public involvement is consistent with the MPO’s adopted public participation plan and will satisfy the Federal Transit Administration’s program of project requirements.
