Tyler Water Utilities (TWU) is partnering with HDR Engineering, Inc. to better support project prioritization, financial planning and infrastructure improvements. The Tyler City Council approved contracting with HDR Engineering for the Capital Improvements Plan Prioritization Project for $49,850 during the Wednesday, Sept. 11 meeting.
"This partnership with HDR Engineering is part of our efforts to find innovative solutions and practices that contribute to the effective management and sustainability of the City's water infrastructure while being fiscally responsible," said Utilities Director Kate Dietz, PE. "It reflects TWU’s commitment to adopting advanced technologies and methodologies to serve the community better."
HDR Engineering will utilize the EconH2O model to aid in project prioritization, funding identification, and revenue forecasting. This will help to enhance TWU's capability to make data-driven decisions for infrastructure projects and ensure that resources are allocated efficiently and effectively.
The EconH2O model offers a comprehensive multi-criteria decision-making interface for project prioritization. It allows for comparing different scenarios based on funding options, ranks projects according to their importance, and helps plan the order in which projects should be carried out, considering the available budget. The model includes limits for managing projects, has a customizable dashboard to show results, and gives details on schedule, where funding comes from and cash flow based on the inputs provided.
