Our Protocols for Tagging and Pulling Dogs and Cats

  1. Our animals are posted on our Facebook site when picked up: https://www.facebook.com/TylerAnimalControl/
  2. When you see an animal that you are interested in, email us the ID# so we have a date/time stamp. We accept tags even during stray holds in an effort to get as much interest as early as possible. We have a 72-hour stray hold before any animal can be dispositioned. Surrenders are available immediately unless otherwise stated. Only the people on your approved list will be allowed to tag animals.
  3. You will be sent a confirmation that tells you where you are in the queue. We work on a first-come-first-serve basis for rescue tags. Potential adopters receive priority if we receive their application during the animal’s hold period.
  4. Once the animal becomes ours, we will set up a time for pickup. You can give us the name of the transporter that you are using. They will need to bring a photo ID when picking up.
  5. We will have the pick-up person sign the transfer agreement in the name of your organization. The transfer agreement has the date when the animal must be spayed/neutered and a copy of the record sent back to me when it is done (usually 30 days for adults, variable for puppies and kittens). We will also include a copy of any diagnostic testing or vaccinations that were done here at the shelter. Generally, for dogs, we parvo and/or heartworm test, and give DAPP/Bordetella vaccines. For cats, we test for FeLV/FIV.
