The Ask A Cop, Coffee With A Cop and Mobile Crime Watch Store Front are a few of the outreach programs that we provide to be more accessible to all residents of the community in Tyler. Throughout the year, officers set up information tables at restaurants, grocery stores, retail stores, and other visible locations to provide information about Police Department programs, listen to citizen's concerns, and answer questions. We also participate in events with local businesses, neighborhoods, and other organizations.

Please contact the Community Response Office at 903-531-1096 for more information and scheduling.

MPO Transportation Policy Committee Meeting

The Tyler Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) Transportation Policy Committee will meet on Thursday, Nov. 21, at 2 p.m. at the Tyler Development Center, 423 W. Ferguson Street, in the Large Conference Room.

The Transportation Policy Committee will discuss the following items:

Residents can review the agenda on the Tyler Area MPO website. Residents can contact the MPO through the department's online contact form or by calling (903) 531-7171.

The MTP is a long-range transportation plan that lists all projects in the MPO boundary that will utilize federal transportation funds. The plan forecasts revenue over a 25-year planning period and prioritizes which projects should be constructed based on the forecasted funding available. It also describes the stakeholder and public engagement process that was used to ensure the prioritization list matches the community's priorities for meeting future transportation needs. The MTP is updated every five years.

The Tyler Area MPO coordinates transportation planning for the greater Smith County area. The MPO is guided by a Transportation Policy Committee that includes representatives from Smith County, Tyler, surrounding cities, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and the Northeast Texas Regional Mobility Authority (NET RMA).
