The Tyler Police Department has multiple volunteers who serve as part of the Chaplain Corps.  The chaplains provide spiritual, non-denominational guidance and support to employees of the department and the citizens of Tyler.  This group of men and women from the city’s religious community seek to lighten the burden of those in need of comfort.  While chaplains are on call for counseling, consultation, and other forms of human crisis intervention, they maintain the highest level of professionalism, confidentiality, and dignity.  Chaplains strive to build and maintain an attitude of cooperation and mutual respect between the department and citizens of Tyler.  They are frequently called upon to help with death notifications, victim assistance, and crisis-related matters.
