As of Monday, July 1st, the Tyler Police Department has added additional officers on the street utilizing STEP (Selective Traffic Enforcement Program). This program is based on crash data in the city limits of Tyler that allows our officers to pin-point target areas that are a problem. The additional officers will be on the street through Sunday, July 7.

With increased traffic in Tyler for the Fourth of July holiday, officers will be specifically watching for hazardous violations such as speeding, intersection enforcement, seat belt violations and most importantly impaired drivers.
