Winter Reading Challenge

The annual Winter Reading Challenge wraps up on Jan. 13. Participants can log their time read at www.tpl.beanstack.org to earn rewards!

Youth Activities

 

Open Makerspace | Jan. 18 at 5 p.m. | Makerspace (Third Floor)

Kids of all ages and families can join us to create, tinker, and explore! A variety of art supplies and STEM activities will be supplied for play.

 

Early Childhood Playday | Jan. 6  from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Come-and-Go | Auditorium (First Floor)

Children from birth to preschool and their families can spend time playing, making art, and connecting with other families.

 

Music Makers | Mondays at 11 a.m. | Auditorium (First Floor)

Babies to preschoolers can join us for singing, making music, and dancing! There will be no program on Jan. 1 and Jan. 15.

 

Storytime | Early Childhood | Birth to Preschool | Auditorium (First Floor)

Join library staff weekly for reading, singing, activities, and playtime at library storytimes!

 

  • Baby Storytime: Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m.
  • Toddler Storytime: Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m.
  • Preschool Storytime: Thursdays at 10:30 a.m.

 

Art Academy | Jan. 24 and 31 at 5 p.m. | Makerspace (Third Floor)

Tweens and teens in Grades 5 to 12 can sign up at www.TylerLibrary.com to join this two-part session focused on acrylic painting.

 

Homeschool Libratory | Jan. 23 at 2 p.m. | Makerspace (Third Floor)

Kids aged 5 to 12 years can learn about the scientific method and do an experiment.

 

Teen Trivia Night | Jan. 26 at 6:30 p.m. | Auditorium (First Floor)

Teens in Grades 8 to 12 can enjoy a variety of Jeopardy-style trivia for a chance to win prizes! Snacks provided. RSVP at www.TylerLibrary.com.

 

Teen Council | Jan. 18 at 5 p.m. | Makerspace (Third Floor)

Teens in Grades 8 to 12 can join to earn volunteer credit and influence Library teen programs! RSVP at www.TylerLibrary.com.

Take-Home Kits for Kids | Available Jan. 16 | Take-Home Kit Kiosk (First Floor)

Each month children of all ages can pick up a fun, educational craft or project to take home. Kits are available as supplies last on a first-come, first-served basis. Kits are geared for the following age ranges:

  • Early Childhood: Paper Doily Snowman
  • Elementary: Huichol Yarn Art
  • Tweens and Teens: Bird Bookmarks

 

Makerspace Activity | Jan. 2 to 31 | Rover Cart (First Floor)

Each month, our Rover Cart features a STEAM-oriented activity for kids to do when they visit the library. January will feature a Hibernation Creation Craft!

 

STEM Club with Code Ninjas | Jan. 27 at 3 p.m. | Auditorium (First Floor)

Kids can join Code Ninja senseis to learn about arrays. Space is limited. RSVP to attend at www.TylerLibrary.com.

 

Adult Activities

 

Weird West Escape Room | Jan. 11 to 13 | Makerspace (Third Floor)

Grab some friends and join us on a steampunk adventure! Escape a runaway train before time runs out. View times and register at www.TylerLibrary.com.

 

Books and Bites Book Club | Last Saturday of each month at 11 a.m. | Makerspace (Third Floor)

For January, participants can pick a mystery to discuss and are encouraged to bring a dish of any sort inspired by the book. We ask that attendees bringing food bring an ingredient list and be mindful of nut allergies.

 

Chess Club | First Saturday of each month at 10 a.m. | Makerspace (Third Floor)

Check out the Chess Club or learn how to play at these monthly meetings.

 

Club Read | Last Tuesday of each month at 10:30 a.m. | Makerspace (Third Floor)

January’s book discussed will be The Nickel Boys by Colson Whitehead.

 

East Texas Genealogical Society | Second Saturday at 2 p.m. | Auditorium (First Floor)

For all who love history and genealogy, check out the East Texas Genealogical Society.

 

Open Door Writing Group | Wednesdays at 1 p.m. | Makerspace (Third Floor)
