Adult Volunteers
The Tyler Public Library is currently seeking volunteers to serve through the following roles:
Local History Team members will assist Library staff with research requests, local history projects using microfilm and the vertical files, and more. These volunteers are available to help push along projects that best serve the community.
Book Sale Team members will assist with the bi-annual book sales (March and October). Book sales require volunteers to physically move lots of books for set-up, assist patrons with purchases, and more.
Donations Team will assist with managing and processing donations for the library. This role will help facilitate the Book Nook inside the library and organize materials for future sales.
Shelving Team will assist with shelving materials throughout the library. You must pass a shelving test before you can start shelving.
Youth Volunteers
Youth volunteers help the library and staff in many ways, including, but not limited to, program setup and cleanup, monitoring programs, counting attendance, tutoring children, and more. To be a youth volunteer for the Tyler Public Library, you must be at least 12 years of age.
New Youth Volunteers: Getting Started
Orientation is required to become a youth volunteer. Orientation is offered at the beginning of each school semester in the fall and spring and beginning of the summer break in May and/or June each year. Visit our Tween or Teen page for news on upcoming orientations.
