Tyler Residents
Borrowing privileges and computer use are free to those who live inside the city limits of Tyler and you or your landlord pays property tax to the City of Tyler. Please note that not everyone with a Tyler postal or mailing address lives inside the city limits. Residency will be determined by actual location of street address.
How to Get a Library Card
Visit the Library at 201 S. College Avenue and bring photo identification and acceptable proof of your current street address (drivers license, state ID, military ID, a recent utility bill, lease agreement, etc.).
- Children under the age of 18 who do not yet have their own valid ID may use the ID of a parent or legal guardian.
- Children under the age of 12 will need a parent or guardian's ID and signature in order to obtain a card.
You will need to fill out a registration form at the Circulation Desk and then will receive your card. To speed the process, download the form, (en Espanol) print and complete it and have it ready for the desk staff when you get here. You may also register for an e-card on our website and stop at the circulation desk with proof of identification for a physical card.
Do I have to renew my Library Card?
Yes, Library cards are issued for three years for Tyler residents. At this time, you will need to bring photo identification and acceptable proof of your current street address (drivers license, state ID, military ID, a recent utility bill, lease agreement, etc.) to update your card.
